One of the most common places people volunteer at is soup kitchens but what is it that makes them so special? Well, soup kitchens act as a sanctuary for the less fortunate, a place where they feel comfortable, a place that they rely on. When you volunteer you quickly realize that the time when food is served is often the bright spot of peoples day. But for a lot of its visitors it is not just the food that they cherish, it is the people they talk to. Most soup kitchens develop communities, the regular visitors look forward to it so that they can sit down and have a nice meal with their friends and even look forward to seeing some of the regular volunteers. The most beutiful thing about a soup kitchen often is not the food they offer, but is instead the community they offer that some are not lucky enough to have.
