The Importance of Volunteering
The Importance of Volunteering
Why is volunteering so important? Volunteering is defined as to "freely offer to do something." People "freely" volunteer for many reasons, many times it is because they enjoy the type of service they are volunteering in, other times it is because they just want to help, there are so many different reasons as to why people volunteer. Volunteering is known to decrease stress levels and provide the volunteer with a better mental well being as people often feel good after performing such a generous act. Volunteering is often seen as a sign of somebody being a good person, this is shown in a study done by "Americorps" in 2013 that showed that people who do volunteer have a 27% higher chance of getting a job compared to someone who does not volunteer. This shows that most employers recognize the importance of volunteering when judging a persons qualities. All in all volunteering is incredibly important as it benefits our own well being while also helping others and acts as a proof of character. Which is why it is so important to volunteer and help your community!
