Day 4: Turkeys In New England
Day 4: Turkeys In New England
Turkey day is on the horizon! The turkey population in New England varies depending on the state. If you look at Connecticut just about 18,000 turkeys live in the state. This is low when you compare the populations found in other states. In Massachusetts about 25,000 turkeys can be found lurking in the commonwealth! I myself see turkeys frequently throughout this time of year. Next, about 45,000 birds can be found in New Hampshire. 20,000 more than Massachusetts! Vermont has a similar turkey population with an estimated 50,000 turkeys being found in the state. However, the turkey king of New England is by far the great state of Maine with an estimated turkey population of 75,000! Now that’s a lot of turkeys! Turkeys are a tradition for many on Thanksgiving. So this turkey day remember that New England might just be the turkey capitol of the country!
